Hi! I am a Registered Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to recovery and personal transformation. I hold two Associate Degrees from Fresno City College in Drug and Alcohol Studies and Pre-Social Work, as well as a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Use (Open Enrollment) from the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute. I am an active participant and volunteer with The Fresno Community Justice nonprofit organization, where I contribute my time and experience toward building pathways for rehabilitation, accountability, and community healing. Having been formerly incarcerated for 23 years and 2 days, I would describe that period as my “education from the hard knocks of life” period because I know that my lived experience profoundly informs my work, which I believe offers me a unique ability to connect with others who are navigating adversity and seeking redemption.
At the core of my work as a counselor is a deep belief in the power of empathy. I understand that healing begins when we feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My practice is built on creating a space where clients can speak freely, explore their experiences without judgment, and feel supported through every step of their journey. I approach each person with compassion, curiosity, and respect—recognizing that everyone’s path is unique. Whether clients are navigating trauma, mental health challenges, relationship stress, or life transitions, I strive to meet them exactly where they are. Together, we work to uncover strengths, build resilience, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.
My goal is to foster a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and genuine human connection. Empathy isn’t just part of the work—it’s the foundation. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, collaborative environment where your emotions are honored, your story matters, and your healing is prioritized. I am a firm believer in second chances and the power of doing the inner work required for lasting change. I understand, firsthand, that life does not always offer ideal circumstances or resources and because of that I hold steadfast to the belief that humanity’s greatest strength lies in our ability to love ourselves and one another through hardship. My philosophy centers on resilience, compassion, and the transformative potential of self-awareness and community support.
